K2b is a training program designed to address the limited marketing knowledge and available expertise within the Tasmanian ICT industry. K2b's primary objective is to increase the understanding of the importance that marketing plays in growing a Tasmanian ICT business and to give those companies that participate the tools and knowledge so that this can be done in-house.
K2b has three core components:
- Funding is provided of $20,000 for graduate placements into Tasmanian ICT companies for 12 months. Companies also contribute a minimum of $20,000 (plus superanuation) to salary costs.
- Providing an external marketing mentor to assist both the company and graduate with their marketing skills development and commercial marketing know-how;
- Delivering marketing skills workshops and marketing coaches for both the company and graduate. These workshops are compulsory to attend and are presented by the best in the field of marketing professionals who deliver practical, commercially tested and useful tips and insights.
Objectives for the k2b Program include:
- Delivering quality business development training to Tasmanian ICT businesses
- Up-skilling the management within Tasmanian ICT businesses by increasing their knowledge of what strategic marketing is
- Retaining the latest marketing knowledge within the state
- Introducing a career in ICT to recent marketing graduates
- Developing detailed and customised marketing strategies for participating Tasmanian companies
- Developing targeted implementation plans for participating Tasmanian companies.
K2b was and remains an Australian first in introducing an innovative marketing skills development program. Since its inception k2b has received very strong support from industry, marketing graduates, the IT industry Council and TasIT.
